THE GAME OF LIFE

We should not stand & stare

At life ,because we have to share & care

Debiting love & affection

Crediting its reflection

As life is not accountable to us,

We are accountable to life

As the folios turn to showstock in trade

Boys are sundry debts, girls are sundry creditors

One of each makes the balance sheet complete tally

Realising the truth soulfully is paramount

All other vestments are really nil account

As some people are wise,

Others may be otherwise

Never take life seriously

As things may move precariously

People have to bury their desires

As all that lives are fruitless fires

You have to stand there bravely

Not be afraid to run away timidly

Until the last transaction is over

THE GAME IS NOT OVER

Let your name be on every body’s lips

Let not everything you put to your lips go on your hips

Smacking moment on the lips ,

should not become sagging fixed deposit on the hips

The longer the waistline ,shorter is your lfe line..

Hip hip hurray!

Lying by the lips may be a booby trap,

Lying on hips may be baby traps

Honey it is the money, Have you any?

Like life and death, fines and taxes are inevitable

When making principal is the principle, there is no principle

Like bills and premium , debt and deposit are a treat,

Until a single fault or default mean a retreat.

The annoying soliciting afternoon calls which keep you awake

The enticing e-mails with the bonanza from lottery you didn’t partake

The occasional salesman with sardonic smile, away with his cake

Honey it is the money, have you any to take?

The varied ways of making the wages are so strong

Because fine is a tax for doing wrong

As tax is a fine for doing the good

May it be so, all the monies are yours or govt.’s food

In life, let all your deeds be fine,

As the benefactor’s indebted lives will be thine

Death is the final call alike for a do -gooder or a sinner

From the creator who is always the winner

Yearn for more, to make your life fine

Earn more and more to pay all tax or fine

All the clings and clanging coins can change

the rich and famous or the bold and beautiful in your range

The desperate wives may keep the doctor in the house

Only to make him play, hide and seek with the mouse

Many a debt and tax may make his pleasure minimal

Honey, it is the money, differentiating animals from manimal

Lucky I am not in debt

But indebted to Ankala who is so adept

In making me find syntaxes so fine

And hang on at the favorite site of mine

The moving finger writes on

Having writ it has gone

So don’t borrow the sorrows from tomorrow

As tomorrow is today's worry, with yesterdays sorrow

World Cup Scraps Best Scrap for Cricket.

R.Ravindranath
“COME ON INDIA, CHAK DE INDIA”

“COME ON INDIA, CHAK DE INDIA”

Motera, Mohali, Mumb-high what a metamorphosis it was!

Mahis men, matched the mighty Muralis and Mahelas

Cometh the man, cometh the time and cometh the cup

The champion of the champions emerged with the cup

Even the blind with all the ears, saw it in their mind’s eyes,

Eliciting enthusiasm with the oohs & aahs- with sighs so high

The movies did not move, even politics off their poly tricks

we were all waiting for the moment as the clock ticks

When Tendulkar and Virender were Maligned before the 7th over

Two was too much to bear, as we thought all is over

The humongous crowd stopped cheering even before it began

Not knowing what the Dhoni’s devils can

April 2nd could have become April 1st the fool’s day

If not the man born 28 years ago, made his day

To keep the world under India’s feet to fall

Chak de India!, a day to beholden to all

Goutham buddha became Gambhir the vir, blasting all over

Virat kholi too was coerced to last over after over

Mahender the marauder Dhoni said ‘it is MY day’

With youthful Yuvaraj kept Srilanka at bay

Gary carries the gauntlet with his boys not to feign

Tendulkar’s tons, Shewag’s strikings , Gambhir’s gamble, Raina’s reign

Zaks zeal, Ashwin, Nehra, Munaf , or Bajji ‘s ball

Yuvaraj’s blazing bat and spinning ball does it all

As the Dhoni’s devils' blitzkrieg made Indian’s victory for sure

Fire works lit up the night sky from dark to azure

The highest successful chase set Wankhade stadium ablaze

History made with the glorious images in the race

T20 winners, leaders in tests became the world champion

Many thanks to Tendulkar, the best batsman in the world

Even though it may sadden Murali, the best bowler who failed

The Lankan Lions roared, but the cool Tricolor smiled

World was waiting for Poonam Pondey to do the full monty

To play cricket at fine legs, at midwicket enjoying the bounty

Or at cover with everything off side, nothing on to fit

But for the thirdman, became a no ball, with no free hit

Live a lofty life without a boundary line

Playing the game as it is, even sundries are fine

When catches win matches celebrate the success with a six

Diligence assures happiness, unless intelligence makes a match fix

If you're travelling on a long-haul flight, there are several ways you can reduce your risk of getting deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Travel-related DVT was first reported in 1954 in a 54-year-old doctor who developed a blood clot following a 14-hour flight. The condition was soon dubbed "economy class syndrome" by researchers, who believed there was a link between long-haul air travel in cramped conditions and DVT.

The actual number of people who get DVT on long-haul flights is unknown and is difficult to determine, as the condition can be symptomless and may not occur for some time after travel.

However, there is some evidence to suggest that certain people, such as pregnant women or people who have had a stroke, are at increased risk of developing DVT on flights of eight hours or more.

What is DVT ?

DVT is a medical condition which occurs when blood flows too slowly through the veins. The blood forms a clot that blocks up deep veins, usually in the legs, and may sometimes travel as far as to the heart.

Symptoms?

DVT doesn’t generally have any immediate symptoms, making it difficult to spot. However, typical signs include a swollen or painful calf or thigh, paleness and increased heat around the affected area.

If left untreated, people with DVT are at risk of developing a pulmonary embolism, when part of the blood clot breaks away and travels to the lung, which can be fatal.

Before you travel

If you think you have a high risk of developing DVT, see your doctor before you travel.

You may be prescribed blood-thinning drugs to lessen the risk of your blood clotting, or compression stockings (also called flight socks).

Studies have concluded that airline passengers who wear compression stockings during flights of four hours or more can significantly reduce their risk of DVT as well as leg swelling (oedema).

The below-knee stockings apply gentle pressure to the ankle to help blood flow. They come in a variety of sizes and there are also different levels of compression. Class 1 stockings (exerting a pressure of 14–17 mmHg at the ankle) are generally sufficient.

It’s vital that compression stockings are measured and worn correctly. Ill-fitting stockings could further increase the risk of DVT.

Flight socks are available from pharmacies, airports and many retail outlets. Take advice on size and proper fitting from a health professional or pharmacist.

DVT high-risk factors:
  • History of DVT or pulmonary embolism
  • Cancer
  • Stroke
  • Heart Disease
  • Inherited tendency to clot (thrombophilia)
  • Recent surgery (pelvic region or legs)
  • Obesity
  • Pregnancy
  • Hormone replacement therapy
Flight socks
  • Flight socks are recommended for people at high or moderate risk of DVT.
  • They should be worn throughout the flight.
  • Use below-knee graduated stockings with an appropriate compression.
  • Class 1 stockings (exerting a pressure of 14–17 mmHg at the ankle) are generally sufficient.
  • Get advice from a health professional (doctor, nurse or pharmacist) on correct size and fitting.
While you're travelling
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
  • Consider buying flight socks (compression stockings).
  • Store luggage overhead so you have room to stretch out your legs.
  • Do anti-DVT exercises. Raise your heels, keeping your toes on the floor, then bring them down. Do this 10 times. Now raise and lower your toes 10 times. Do it at least every half an hour (you can do it more often if you like).
  • Walk around whenever you can.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Don’t drink alcohol or take sleeping pills.

Seasickness is hardly fatal, but with symptoms such as nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting, it can certainly put a damper on your cruise fun. Motion sickness is thought to be caused by the visual disorientation resulting from being on an object in motion (ship) competing against our body's natural inclination for balance. Whatever the technical cause, the majority of cruisers are familiar with how rough, rocking seas can leave us feeling less than our best.

Mal de mer, however, is not caused by choppy waters alone. Scientific studies have shown that some folks become seasick by suggestion. They simply convince themselves that being on a ship will make them ill. On the other hand, for those who can forget about it, it's often smooth sailing.

Some people have a genuine proclivity for motion sickness and will undoubtedly suffer more during rough seas. According to medical professionals, seasickness is more prevalent in children and women. On the other hand, children under 2 seem to be immune from the ailment. Of equally interesting note, elderly people are less susceptible.

If you have a propensity to motion sickness or are concerned that you might develop symptoms, arm yourself with preventive measures beforehand.

Drug Remedies

One of the most widely recommended remedies is
Transderm Scop, a scopolamine patch applied behind the ear at least eight hours before exposure, with effectiveness for up to three days. Available only by prescription, the Scop is preventive, not a treatment, and can cause possible side effects such as dry mouth, blurry vision, drowsiness and dizziness.

Over-the-counter drugs used to deter and/or treat mal de mer include
Dramamine, Meclizine (common name Bonine) or diphenhydramine (commonly known as Benadryl). On some ships these are dispensed freely. They are also sold in the sundries shop. Remember that the most common side effect of taking Bonine and Benadryl is drowsiness, and alcohol will exacerbate this.

Editor's note: For kids, less potent versions of both Benadryl and Bonine are available as well. Of course, we recommend that you talk with your doctor before giving your children any new medications.

Stronger, more effective prescription drugs can only be obtained from a physician (the ship's doctor can fix you up, but it often costs you the price of an office visit plus the pills, so you're better off going through your personal physician). These include
Promethazine and ephedrine, which when taken together produce quick results as well as potential side effects such as sleepiness. Another option is suppositories, administered by the ship's physician, which work magic for some people.

Drug-Free Remedies

If you don't like to take drugs, there are plenty of other options, if the numerous Cruise Critic boards' threads on seasickness remedies are any indication. Some swear by applying a
Sea-Band wristband the minute you embark. The easy-to-wear, acupressure-inspired product has a plastic bead that presses against the Nei-Kuan pressure point located on the palm side of the wrist. Efficacious in curbing nausea and vomiting without any side effects, it comes in both adult and children's sizes and can even be used by pregnant women. Sea-Bands are available without a prescription at major drug stores.

Others faithfully promote the benefits of
ginger, which studies have found alleviates nausea associated with motion sickness. The root can be taken in various forms, including powder, tea, pill and candy. Some swear that eating green apples helps with nausea, and some ships offer plates of green apples and crackers on their room service menus.

A Few More Tips

  • To acclimate yourself to shipboard life, it's advisable to spend as much time as possible out on deck, using the horizon as a point to maintain your equilibrium.
  • Booking an outside cabin in the middle of the ship -- the natural balance point -- is another option. Having a window will also give you a consistent view of the horizon point (unless you find yourself in stormy waters, sea spume splashing against your window).
  • It's also not a bad idea to take only port intensive cruises with fewer days on the open seas and to avoid itineraries where the ocean is bound to be rough such as North Atlantic crossings or the Caribbean during hurricane season.
  • Another wise option is to pick large, modern ships -- not a difficult proposition with the industry trending toward larger ships. Anyone who's sailed on a relatively new mega-ship, perhaps of 100,000-tons or more, knows that stabilizers are used when needed to provide the smoothest ride possible.

Remember that everyone reacts differently to the various remedies out there. It's on the cruiser to take part in a little research and self-experimentation.

The sheer range of diseases that affect humans is overwhelming, but it’s as infinitely interesting as it is exhausting. Whether they’re physical, mental, or both, these weird diseases are some of the most intriguing:
10.
Elephantiasis

Elephantiasis (often misspelled or mispronounced as “elephantitis”) is characterized by an extreme swelling of the limbs or regions of the head and neck. This effect is caused by an excess fluid build-up in the tissues. The condition is caused by several parasites that affect the lymphatic system, all of which are transmitted by mosquitoes.
elephantiasis
9.
Pica
People with Pica exhibit an irrational desire to eat non-food items. This behavior can occur in pregnant women (where it is often associated with certain mineral deficiencies), but is especially prevalent in young children. Patients may eat anything, from paint and sand to animal feces.
pica
8.
Hypertrichosis
Hypertrichosis, sometimes called “Human Werewolf Syndrome”, is characterized by excessive hair growth. It is generally only a cosmetic problem, and though it is exceptionally rare, patients can live relatively normal lives.
hypertrichosis
7.
Capgras Delusion
The Capgras delusion (or Capgras syndrome) is a rare disorder in which a person holds a delusion that an acquaintance (typically someone close) has been replaced with an imposter. This delusion can be so strong that they may actually attack the loved one.
capgras delusion
6.
Alice in Wonderland Syndrome
Individuals with this strange syndrome will incorrectly perceive the sizes of things: from objects, to animals, to parts of their own body. Their hands may appear enormous to them, while a horse will appear to be the size of a cat.
alice in wonderland syndrom

5.
Exploding Head Syndrome
Typically associated with extreme fatigue or stress, individuals with Exploding Head Syndrome will hear an enormously loud noise (like an explosion or gun shot) that seems to originate from inside of their own head. The “explosion” will often occur a few hours into sleep.
exploding head syndrome
4.
Latah
“Latah” is both the name of the condition and a name for people afflicted with this condition. Latahs respond to being surprised by falling into a trance state in which they mimic the speech and actions of those around them and obey all commands given to them without thought. During these episodes, they are completely unaware of their actions.
latah
3.
Cotard’s Syndrome
Cotard’s Syndrome is a delusion most often present in depressed or suicidal individuals in which they believe that they are dead, do not exist, are putrefying, or have lost their blood and/or internal organs.
cotards syndrome
2.
Progeria
Progeria is a fatal genetic disorder that is characterized by the appearance of rapid aging in children. They usually appear normal at birth, but soon show signs of rapid aging. Sadly, children suffering from Progeria usually die of heart disease early in adolescence.
progeria
1.
Moebius Syndrome
Moebius Syndrome is a neurological disorder in which patients cannot use their facial muscles. They cannot blink, smile, frown, or more their eyes from side to side. Even drinking, eating, and breathing can be problematic.
moebius syndorme
A tragic problem with some of these afflictions is that their rarity and uniqueness means that people are less aware of them and they are less likely to receive medical research. Research foundations exist for many these diseases, if you feel inclined to donate – and we hope you do.

X-radiation (composed of X-rays) is a form of electromagnetic radiation. They are shorter in wavelength than UV rays. In many languages, X-radiation is called Röntgen radiation, after Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, who is generally credited as their discoverer, and who had named them X-rays to signify an unknown type of radiation.

A dentist found the source of the toothache Patrick Lawler was complaining about on the roof of his mouth: a four-inch (10-centimeter) nail the construction worker had unknowingly embedded in his skull six days earlier.

Doctors in Pakistan removed a whole lightbulb from a prisoner’s anus June 28. The man said he awoke with he problem, but doctors weren’t sure.
